Crostyx will take heart from their home defeat to Brentwood, but will still be left bitterly frustrated after ending their recent form.
For the 4th consecutive week Crostyx found themselves 1-0 down and fighting hard against a well organised side, it stayed that way until half time.
Brentwood added a 2nd goal at the start of the 2nd half against the run of play. Crostyx would not go down without a fight, and Brentwood started to look worried when Demi Vassiliou roofed a drag flick to bring the score back to 2-1. Buoyed by the goal Crostyx continue to press forward and were caught unfortunately on the counter attack as Brentwood capitalised on a mistake at the back to make the score 3-1.
The game was far from over at this point and Crostyx continued to push, and the next goal came from ‘in-form’ centre-back Joseph Whitehead, who for the 3rd week in a row found the back of the net with what can only be described as a candidate for goal of the season. Some brilliant work from Daniel Hunn down the inside right channel before squaring the ball to the marauding centre-back who first touch placed him on the edge of the circle, before Whitehead unleashed a cannonball into the top right hand corner of the goal.
Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time for Crostyx to find an equaliser and were left to rue a number of missed chances. It will be another difficult game next week against Wapping but the team head into every game knowing that they will create enough chances to compete.
