Crostyx 2’s maintained their composure against a tough opposition on Saturday to win 4-0.
The team started well and immediately put pressure upon the Old Southendian ladies. The majority of the possession was held by Crostyx with multiple runs from the midfield and forwards resulting in two short corners and various chances. However it wasn’t until after some encouraging words during the half time speech from co-captains Chantal Pampellonne and Carla Preston that the side began to capitalise upon their clear dominance.
The first goal came after an excellent run from Lucy Leel which showed off her skills and a perfectly timed pass gave newcomer Demi Evarschi the perfect opportunity to slip the ball past the goalkeeper. Similar runs were made by Leel over the course of the second half which put great pressure upon the Old Southendian defence. The second and third goals came from pinpoint precision passing among the team and great finishes from Leel and Gracie Lawson. The last goal was a deflection from a short corner.
This was an awesome team performance that saw great use of the defence to switch the ball from one side of the pitch to the other creating acres of space which all the midfields and forwards exploited by continuous running right up until the final whistle.
