Crostyx 2s found their goal scoring form on Saturday with a 5-0 win over a 10man Colchester 3s.
Crostyx fielded a mixture of experience and youth with a very full sideline crèche run by various husbands and friends! The ladies in purple put Colchester under pressure from the first whistle with attacking play and holding the majority of possession. The first goal was set up by captain Chantal Pampellonne from a well deserved and well drilled short corner, who slapped the ball to the post where Liberty Morrell was perfectly positioned for the deflection. Colchester, although down by one player were experienced and very disciplined in defence. They were dangerous on the break and forced keeper Emma Thorne into two excellent saves in a competitive first half. Alice Ford making her debut put the home side two ahead just before half time.
During the 2nd half Crostyx moved the ball well and the opponents tired. Liberty Morrell, Mel Garnish and Alice Ford linked well up front to create several goal scoring opportunities bringing the score up to 5-0. The Crostyx defence led by Lisa Dixon managed the infrequent Colchester breaks with composure and the home side took 3 well deserved points
With 3 games played Crostyx sit 2nd in the league and are looking to score more goals next week in Southend.
